Royal Canadian Legion Branch #26 – Annual Meeting

April 13 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

On March 25, 2019 at 6:30 P.M. at Morell Regional High School we will be holding our regular monthly meeting. This will be our last meeting before our annual meeting which will be held at Morell Fire Hall on Saturday April 13, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Our final preparations for our annual meeting will be made at our meeting on March 25th. All members will be notified by letter of the time and date of our annual meeting so stay posted.

Our Zone sports program for the year has been completed and our branch has done quite well in this competition. In National cribbage the team of James MacDonald, Lyla MacDonald, James MacAulay and David Lewis placed third in Zone play. The team of Joseph Walsh, Michael Palmer, Michael MacDonald and Randy MacSwain placed second in Zone play. The Island finals were held in Kensington and both teams failed to qualify Provincially. The team from Borden Carleton won the right to go to Ottawa. In Island cribbage the team of Randy MacSwain and John Ranahan placed second while the team of Catherine McDonald and Edith Hawbolt placed third. Both these teams will compete in the Island play downs in Ellerslie on March 23, 2019. In Zone Shuffleboard the team of Greg Dunn and Shawn Ryan placed second but they were unable to go the Island final and were replaced by a team from the Montague branch.

Our Essay, Poem and poster contest has now been judged at Provincial Command and we had a number of winners. Connor Minnis placed second in the Senior Poster Colour category. Megan Young placed second in the Senior Poster Black and White category. Charlotte Byrnes placed first in the Senior Essay category and will have her essay forwarded to Ottawa for national competition. Bailey MacLean placed third in the Senior Essay category. Brendon Bradley placed third in Senior Poem category. Michaela Taylor placed third in the Intermediate Essay category. Casey Mann placed third in the Intermediate Poem category and Zachary MacFarlane placed third in theJunior Essay category. Prizes were presented to the winners by Catherine McDonald our Branch President. Morell Legion Congratulates all the winners as well as students who took part in the program.
