SEAM Program Success

The Community of St. Peter’s Bay is completing a Pilot Project in partnership with the Province of Prince Edward Island, Skills PEI; Department of Workforce and Advanced Learning: and Department of Family and Human Services.

The SEAM (Skills Enhancement and Mentoring Program) project started on May 28th with the hiring of Youth Worker, Barry O’Brien of Georgetown. On July 4th, 10 youth from various areas of Kings County started a journey of preparation for work placements with various Kings County Employers. This allows to have youth engaged, to create positive employment worksites, provide life style, job related life skills and literacy skills that will help youth have a positive work experience and become better students upon return to school in September.

We have completed this journey and we are very pleased with the results and hope this can be a return program to St. Peter’s Bay in 2017. We would like to thank the Province for choosing St. Peter’s as part of their pilot program and we are very pleased with the work Barry O’Brien has done with the Youth during this program.
